Chen Pingao told the students that media literacy is an important part of the national culture and civilized quality that needs to be improved urgently. He asked the students to develop a good basic quality of production and receiving information.

In class, Chen Pingao explained in detail the ins and outs of the writing and publication of "Practice is the Only Standard for Testing Truth". After the publication of this article, it caused great repercussions in the society, which led to a big discussion about the standard of truth.

Through this practical case, Chen Pingao proposed that journalists should have political sensitivity, legal thinking, professionalism and responsibility. He particularly emphasized that political ability is the first thing for journalists.

It is reported that in November 2020, the School of Journalism and Information Communication of Huazhong University of Science and Technology and the Personnel Department of Guangming Daily signed a contract to jointly build the "Guangming News Innovation Practice Center". The "Guangming Journalism Innovation Practice Center" is the first teaching, scientific research and talent training base jointly established by the department and the college of Guangming Daily, which has opened a new mode of education and training for journalism and communication talents.
