The journalism and communication doctoral program aims intraininghigh-level talents in journalism with an international vision,a serious and practical scientific attitude and style, the down-to-earth spirit of innovation, good scientific research ethics, and the ability to undertake independent scientific research;Studentsare supposed to be equipped withbroad and solid theoretical foundation andget proficiency in the use of the computer and information technology to solve problems within the specialty and with unique insights;After graduation, they can engage in high-level professionaljobssuch as journalism andcommunication research,journalisticpracticeincommunication departments of higher education institutions, andmediaorganization,industrial and commercial enterprise, state organs and governmentagency.

新闻传播学博士旨在培养具有国际化视野、严肃的科学态度、脚踏实地的创新精神、良好的科学研究伦理和独立从事科学研究能力的高级新闻学和传播学人才。学生将掌握广博而坚实的理论基础，能运用专业洞察和传播科技解决专业问题。毕业后，能够从事新闻与传播研究，新闻实践，在高等学校传播系从教学与科研，以及在媒体、企业和政府机构获开启事业。

Length of Schooling（学习年限）

The basic learning period for general doctoral students of this discipline (including those with a master's degree and a doctoral degree) is 4 years, and that for direct doctoral students is 5 years.

本学科普通博士生（含硕博连读生取得博士学籍后）的基本学习年限为4年，直博生的基本学习年限为5年。

 The detailed requirements for communication doctoral program（本学科对博士研究生培养提出的具体要求）

（一）博士研究生的培养实行导师负责制，组成以博士生导师为组长的博士研究生指导小组，负责博士研究生的培养和考核工作。

The training of doctoral students is based on the supervisor system, the supervising group consists of supervisor and other teachers and is in charge of the training and examination.

（二）对跨一级学科课程的限定First-class InterdisciplinaryCourses

1.跨一级学科课程指本一级学科外的研究生课程，且必须跟班听课并同堂参加考试。

First-class Interdisciplinary course is referred to the courses outside of Journalism and Communication discipline, the class participation and examination are required.

2.所选的跨一级学科课程不得与硕士期间所修的课程相同。

The selected first-class interdisciplinary courses is supposed to be different from those courses selected during master degree study.

（三）论文选题报告，通过开题得1学分。选题报告应包括的内容为：

Dissertation proposal deserves 1 credit. The proposal includes the following elements:

1.Introduction and Statement of the ProblemandSignificance of the study

2.Review of the LiteratureandTheoretical Framework

3.The Design--Methods and Procedures:sampling,instrumentation,data collection,data analysis.

4. Theoretical and practical Significance and innovations

5. Prospected outcomes

6.References

（四）论文中期报告DissertationMiddle-termReport

博士生撰写博士学位论文前，要向博士生指导小组或有关学者、专家报告研究工作成果，听取质疑与商讨改进意见，待创造性研究成果获得认同后，方可撰写论文。

Only after reporting the research progress and acquired the recognition of supervisor group, the doctoral candidate can start the dissertation writing.

（五）博士研究生申请论文答辩和资格审查

Application for dissertation defense and qualification check

博士论文资格审查由指导教师或博士生指导小组负责进行。

The supervisor group is in charge of the Ph.D degree dissertation qualification check .

博士研究生申请论文答辩的基本条件：

The requirements for doctoral student’s dissertation defense:

1.修完所规定的课程学分Fulfill the required course credits

2.完成论文选题报告Report the dissertation proposal

3.完成论文中期报告Finish the middle-term reporting

4.在刊物上发表规定数量的论文Publish the required number of journal articles

5.完成毕业论文的撰写Finish the dissertation

6.通过校内外专家的评审Get through the anonymous reviewing
