The School of Journalism and Information Communication (SJIC) of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) was founded in 1983 as the Department of Journalism of Huazhong Institute of Technology (former HUST), the first journalism department established by an engineering university in China. In 1998, the SJIC was officially established. SJIC was granted the right to confer doctoral degree in Journalism and Journalism & Communication in 2003 and 2005 respectively, one of the earliest 6 journalism schools in mainland China to have the right to confer a doctorate. In 2007, the SJIC was qualified to establish a post-doctoral research station in Journalism and Communication.  

Adhering to the characteristics of "application-oriented, interdisciplinary-featured", SJIC has been committed to the education reform and academic research innovation of Journalism and Communication discipline. Based on Humanities & Social Sciences disciplines, SJIC implements the deep interdisciplinary integration of Literature, Engineering, Medicine and Management, distinguishing itself from other journalism schools.  

In recent years, with the development philosophy of "future-oriented, discipline integration, mainstream concern and international vision", SJIC has been actively promoting the development concept and mechanism transformation of Journalism and Communication discipline, building well-structured high-level faculty team, optimizing and upgrading the talent training system of multi-disciplinary integration, cultivating first-class talents with national devotion and international vision, improving the originality and influence of academic achievements by serving the major national cultural communication strategies. SJIC has been committed to building itself into a world-renowned highland for journalism and communication talent training and academic research with Chinese characteristics.

Due to the development of the discipline and the needs for important scientific research projects, SJIC is seeking prominent postdoctoral fellows from home and abroad in 2021. 

I . Recruitment Post & Quantity

Postdocs recruited by our station should undertake scientific research related to academic direction; recruitment directions, cooperative supervisors and recruitment quantity are as follows:

l Applicants must have received PhD degree no more than 3 years prior to the start of the appointment from prestigious universities or research institutions in China or overseas;  

l In principle, applicants shouldn’t age over 35, sound in body and mind;

l Applicants should have participated in high-level research projects, and achieved great research results;

l Other conditions conducive to scientific research.

III. Employment benefits

1. The annual salary shall not be less than 200,000 yuan (before tax), and for some selected in the special subsidy plan , it shall not be less than 260,000 yuan (before tax);

2. During the employment period, affiliated kindergarten and school for your children, socialized medical care, social security and other benefits, are available;

3. Post-doctoral apartment can be applied, and rental subsidies will be provided for those who fail to apply;  

4. Post-doctoral fellows in the station can apply for the identification or evaluation qualification for associate researcher ;

5. Post-doctoral fellows with outstanding performance can compete for faculty posts.

2. We will carry on a preliminary evaluation to applicants’ material, and determine personnel for the next round evaluation; before the evaluation, applicants should prepare the research plan (within 5,000 Chinese words); qualified candidates will be approved by the school and then appointed by the university formally;

3. This recruitment notice is valid within 2021. According to the application situation, the station will carry on evaluation in batches; before each round of evaluation and according to the actual situation of the applicants, we will determine to evaluate applicants online or offline.
