On the afternoon of December 6,2020,Luo Zhenyu,thechairman ofMindCreation and founder of theIGet App & Logi Thinking, returned to his alma materHuazhong University of Science and Technology,to talk with students andfaculties about what it means to be the “Friend of time “and encouraged them to read more books.

Shao Xinyu,Chair of the University Committee, and Xu Xiaodong,VicePresident of theUniversity, took Luo Zhenyu on a tour of the school’s landmarks and introduced the development of the university in recent years. “Where you are at the age of 18, your life will be marked by it, “said Luo Zhenyu, who graduated inSJICfrom Huazhong University of Technology (now Huazhong University of Science and Technology) in 1994. Thirty years later, he returned to his alma mater, where hetalked and shared experienceswith students andfacultiesin theMingdeLecture Hall of theWutongyuLearning Center.

“The greatestgraceto me in my four years of college,alsoone of my greatest competitiveedges in the past 30 years, was to read more books, “Luo recalled as he interacted with students, reading through the Selections (Anthologies) of Marx and Engelsin the library during his college years. He believes that reading is actually the road to where you do not know. However,you willobtainsome opportunitiesbecause you are on the road, and others willhelp you in the most suitable way.

Luo Zhenyu said that once he went to a lecture given by Professor Zheng Zaiying of the Chinese department. The old professor was late when he entered the classroom, becausehe was reading Elegies of Chu at home. Professor Zheng said in dialect, “How beautiful itis! Elegies of Chushouldnot only be read, but also be recitedaloud. “Then, he read a few lines.Luo Zhenyu remembered clearly that night he returned to his dormitoryat once,thenopenedElegies of Chu , which had beenplacedonhisbed forso long.

“As a matter of fact, such opportunities are too rare in life.”Luo Zhenyu told students, after graduation from college this kind of chance will almost never happen again, because you will face different kinds of anxiety in the rush of life. Chances are that you’ll never get a chance to read these books again , for those vast and systematic books like Chinese Philosophy, A History of Western Philosophy, History of Literature, History of Literary Criticism, General History of Chinaand so on.

“In this era, the standards for entrepreneurs are lower instead of higher.”Luo said in the interview.“The advantage of social development is that you need toconcentrate onyour ownstrengths. Whether it’s your business partner, your colleagues or the social support system, they are going to get stronger and stronger. So you only need to manage your own business, while other things can be subcontracted to the whole social system.”

Luo Zhenyu encouraged students of HUST that“If there is any entrepreneurial experience, it is that you have this idea, then do it bravely!”
